Exhaust Pipe Golden in Color

My bike is a 1999 with 1500 miles and the exhaust pipe is turning gold beginning at the head. I do not over rev the engine. Is this the beginning of my pipe turning blue. How can I correct the problem before it gets out of control. I read this forum every day and would like to say thanks to everyone that participates!
